Center back Thai Ba Sang - SLNA scores points in the eyes of coach Hoang Anh Tuan

At the 2017 National U19 Finals, although U19 SLNA missed the semi-finals, in the 3 matches taking place in Binh Dinh, Mai Sy Hoang and Thai Ba Sang left many impressions in the eyes of coach Hoang Anh Tuan.

To prepare for the Southeast Asian U18 Football Championship from September 4 to September 18, 2017 held in Yangon (Myanmar), the coaching staff of the Vietnam U18 team has called up two young players from SLNA, midfielder Mai Sy Hoang and center back Thai Ba Sang, both born in 1999.

Yesterday morning (September 1), Coach Hoang Anh Tuan announced the list of players from the Vietnam U18 team who will go with him to Myanmar to participate in the 2017 Southeast Asian U18 tournament. Accordingly, the 5 names eliminated are Nguyen Thanh Binh (Viettel), Huynh Tien Dat (HAGL), Pham Dinh Long (HAGL), Huynh Chan Nguyen (An Giang) and Vo Van Toan (Quang Nam).

Both SLNA players Thai Ba Sang and Mai Sy Hoang were retained because of their good performances during the training period. In particular, center back Thai Ba Sang was trusted to wear the captain's armband of the Vietnam U18 team in recent training sessions.

Currently, the number of U18 Vietnam players is 22, while according to the Organizing Committee's regulations, each team must register 23 names. This means that in the coming days, the team will have another addition.

On September 2, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team will depart for Malaysia, officially entering the 2017 Southeast Asian U18 tournament. In this tournament, the Vietnam U18 team is in Group B with Myanmar, Indonesia, Brunei and the Philippines. The team will have their opening match against Brunei at 3:00 p.m. (Malaysia time) on September 7.
