The Vietnam-Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery was established in 1976 with an area of 6.8 hectares. It is the largest cemetery containing the remains of martyrs, including Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who fought and died in Laos.

The cemetery is currently the resting place of 10,825 martyrs from 47 provinces and cities across the country who sacrificed their lives on the battlefield in Laos.

Since its construction, the cemetery has received and cared for nearly 11,000 remains of martyrs who died on the battlefield in Laos, including nearly 7,000 graves whose names and hometowns are unknown.

This is also the only cemetery in Vietnam named after two countries and two peoples, Vietnam and Laos, and is a symbolic work representing the unwavering solidarity and loyalty of the two brotherly nations.
