This school year marks a special milestone - the 50th anniversary of Tay Hieu High School. 50 years is the sweat and dedication of generations of teachers who have tirelessly "planted letters and nurtured people", and the dreams and aspirations that have taken flight from the beloved school.

The 50th anniversary of the school's founding is not only an opportunity to look back on the past, but also a time for teachers and students of Tay Hieu High School to look forward to the future together, continuing to write golden pages of tradition with the spirit of solidarity, creativity and aspiration to rise up and acquire knowledge.

In 1970, according to the wishes of the cadres, workers of Tay Hieu Farm and the people of the communes west of Hieu River. The Board of Directors of Tay Hieu State Farm opened a cultural supplementary class to foster cultural knowledge for cadres and children of the farms and neighboring communes. The initial class had only more than 30 students, the teachers were some of the farm's cultural cadres. The Nghe Tinh Department of Education appointed comrade Nguyen Tai Suu, Secretary of the Tay Hieu Farm Youth Union, as the Honorary Principal.

By 1972, with many important victories, the Party and the State had a policy of opening a number of high schools to prepare for creating a source of cadres. In that context, Tay Hieu Farm Work-Study High School was officially established with 2 classes and more than 100 students, the classes only studied 3 days a week, the rest went to work, the following school years recruited 2 classes each year. The first 3 teachers - Ms. Nguyen Thi Xanh (Math), Mr. Cao Van Giap (Physics), Ms. Pham Thi Truc Quynh (Chemistry) - were the ones who laid the foundation for the formation of today's school.

In 1975, after the country was unified, the task of construction and development of the country was put first, including education development. Therefore, in the province, many high schools were established at the same time, including Tay Hieu High School (later Tay Hieu High School). In the first school year, the school had only 2 first-grade classes, with 120 students. In the memory of the first class, the classrooms at that time were made of bamboo and reed... The teacher's desk was created by the students themselves by weaving bamboo strips on 4 sides and burying 4 bamboo poles and placing a bamboo mat on top. Most of the students lived 13-18 km away from the school, but they mainly walked to school. Out of pity for the students, the school let the students work to build a dormitory with thatched houses and mud walls. On Saturday afternoons, students temporarily leave their friends and teachers to return to their families, and on Sunday afternoons, they carry rice on one side and vegetables, fruits, fish sauce, salt... on the other to return to school to start a new school week.

Entering the 1980s - 1990s, it continued to be a challenging period. At that time, due to the country's difficult economic situation and the lack of people's lives, most students dropped out of school and many teachers quit their jobs to make a living. There were times like the end of the 1991-1992 school year, the school only had 4 classes with 120 students. In particular, grade 12 had only 3 students left and had to send them to Nghia Dan High School (now Thai Hoa High School) to continue studying. In the 1992-1993 school year, the school merged with Tay Hieu Secondary School to become Tay Hieu Secondary - High School. Although at that time, teaching conditions were still lacking and students continued to drop out of school, overcoming all of that, generations of teachers remained steadfast in their profession, keeping the flame of love and responsibility, and persistently steering the education boat through the storms.

In the school's 50-year journey, 1998 was considered an important turning point. At this time, implementing the policy of rearranging the school network, Nghe An Department of Education and Training decided to separate Tay Hieu Secondary and High School into 2 independent units. From then on, Tay Hieu High School officially operated with its own facilities.

At the same time, the school was also approved by the People's Committee of Nghe An province to cut 1 hectare of farmland and approved the project to build a high-rise school building worth 1.4 billion VND, creating conditions to better meet the needs of teaching and learning, gradually opening a new, more solid and comprehensive development stage.

In the following years, the school has grown steadily in both size and quality. From a school that was still lacking, Tay Hieu High School has been invested synchronously with spacious facilities, a complete system of classrooms, experimental practice areas, quality teaching equipment, modern foreign language classrooms, spacious and airy playgrounds and training grounds, many scholarship and study encouragement funds for excellent students, many gifts for students with difficult circumstances... In 2015, the school was honored to be recognized as a national standard school, marking an important milestone in the 50-year journey of construction and growth.

Promoting the tradition of studiousness, good study, hard work, and not giving up in the face of difficulties, parents and students have worked with teachers and the school to gradually build and develop the unit, affirming its position in the whole province. In the process of innovating the education career in the modern trend, the school has affirmed its position and vision in terms of staff quality, facilities, education quality, cooperative education...

The process of organizing professional activities of the school has always been respected and increasingly improved. In recent years, the school has always been a typical unit in the locality to effectively carry out emulation movements; teachers focus on innovating teaching methods, applying information technology, innovating testing and evaluation work, summarizing teaching experiences, educating students, etc. Up to now, 100% of staff and teachers have applied technological advances in management and teaching, there are hundreds of school-level initiatives, dozens of industry-level and provincial-level initiatives. The quality of the team has been increasingly improved with 100% meeting the standards, including 24 masters (34%), 25 excellent teachers and excellent homeroom teachers at the provincial level (36%). There are many teachers who are core teachers, many teachers have achieved high achievements in training excellent students, reviewing for high school graduation exams, many teachers have received the titles of Emulation Fighters at the industry and provincial levels. The school has been recognized for many consecutive years as an advanced school, and the school's Union and Youth Union have been recognized for excellent performance in their tasks.

Over the years, Tay Hieu High School has always identified the task of improving the quality of comprehensive education as the top priority. Therefore, it has implemented many synchronous, drastic and effective policies and measures to innovate teaching and assessment methods, as well as improve the quality of staff and students.

The school also strongly implements teaching linked to practice, organizing students to visit factories, farms, and production models in the area, helping them have the opportunity to approach reality and orient their careers early. In particular, STEM education and project-based learning activities are focused on, initially bringing practical results. In parallel, the school has built an electronic learning resource warehouse, implemented online exams and review on the LMS system, contributing to improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning, and testing and evaluating accurately and objectively.

In particular, at Tay Hieu High School, playgrounds such as "Ring the Golden Bell - Learning Knowledge", "Food Fair", "Creativity from Scrap - Action for the Environment", "Book Reading Festival - Sharing Knowledge", "Greening the Schoolyard - Nurturing Life" have given students the opportunity to learn through experience, work with joy, helping students practice skills, form qualities and nurture their passion for creativity. Each activity is not only a competition, but also a vivid lesson about solidarity, ingenuity, intelligence and awareness, responsibility to the community, contributing to creating the unique identity of Tay Hieu youth - dynamic, confident and creative.

Thanks to a team of dedicated, highly qualified teachers and close guidance from the school board, the work of nurturing excellent students and tutoring weak students is carried out regularly, bringing about encouraging results. The emulation movement "Teach well - Learn well" spreads strongly with many excellent teaching hours and quality experience and initiative topics. The most outstanding result is the number of excellent students at the school, excellent students at the provincial level, students passing the university and college entrance exams has increased, the quality of education each year is higher than the previous year. In the last 2 school years, the 2024-2025 school year, the school's High School Graduation Exam results rose to 36th in the province, up 27 places. Entering the 2025-2026 school year, the school has 16 students recognized as excellent students at the provincial level. Looking back over the past 50 years, there have been 213 cadres, teachers and staff participating in teaching, 363 classes; 10,032 students have graduated; many students have become cadres, scientists, teachers, engineers, doctors, military officers, businessmen, workers, highly skilled workers or directly engaged in production in all areas of social life and all over the country, contributing significantly to the development of the country. In recognition of the achievements that the school has achieved, the school was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training, a Banner by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, many individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

After half a century of construction and development, each achievement that Tay Hieu High School has achieved today is the crystallization of the spirit of solidarity, dedication and responsibility from many generations. Under the leadership and attention of Party committees at all levels, local authorities and the close direction of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An, along with the effective coordination of organizations and unions such as Party cells, trade unions, school unions, and parents' associations, the school has continuously grown and stood firm on the path of innovation and integration.

But above all, what makes Tay Hieu High School's identity and enduring vitality is the great contribution of generations of teachers - those who have devoted their hearts and love for their profession, silently sowing seeds of knowledge and helping generations of students. Along with that is the constant effort and striving of tens of thousands of students through the ages - those who have carried with them knowledge, morality and pride in their school to shine in all parts of the country.

The 50th anniversary of the establishment is an opportunity for teachers and students of Tay Hieu High School to look back on the past journey. Promoting the tradition of "Good Teaching - Good Learning", the school's collective today continues to strive, be creative, and determined to make Tay Hieu High School develop more and more, worthy of the title of National Standard School and the trust of the people of the homeland.
