With a rain of goals, Real won a ticket to the round of 16 of the Champions League
Real won their biggest win of the season when they defeated home team Apoel Nicosia 6-0.
Goals: Modric 23', Benzema 39', 45', Nacho 41', Ronaldo 49', 54'
Returning to action after being 10 points behind Barca in La Liga, Real found a suitable opponent to vent their anger on in the weakest team in the Champions League group. The defending champions needed just 54 minutes to score six goals against Apoel Nicosia, while not conceding a single goal.
Real started the scoring spree with a Luka Modric masterpiece. The Croatian midfielder excited the fans with a volley from 25 meters, after a defender cleared the ball from the penalty area, causing the ball to bounce off the ground and into the far corner of the goal.

Modric's goal acted as a trigger to unleash Real's destructive power. Faced with the defending champions' relentless attacks, Apoel's defense, which lacked the same level of quality, quickly conceded a second goal. Benzema doubled the lead when he slotted past the goalkeeper from a through ball in the middle of the field in the 39th minute.
Real even added two more goals in the final five minutes of the first half. Center-back Nacho finished from close range from a high ball to make it 3-0, while Benzema slotted into an empty net after a pass from Ronaldo.

Like Benzema, Ronaldo also took advantage of the opportunity to regain his scoring touch after a series of quiet matches in La Liga. CR7 started to speak when he jumped high to head a cross from Marcelo to make it 5-0 in the 49th minute. Without having to wait much longer, Ronaldo completed his double with a connecting shot from a rebound after a dispute between the goalkeeper and Benzema in the 54th minute.
Two goals against Apoel gave Ronaldo eight goals in five Champions League group stage matches, and cemented his position as the top scorer in the race for the Golden Boot. This is also an important achievement for the star to regain confidence when returning to La Liga.
The win over Apoel took Real to 10 points from five games. With an eight-point lead over third-placed Dortmund, the defending champions secured a place in the knockout stages with a game to spare.
Real Madrid's only disappointment is that they have lost their chance to take the top spot. Tottenham have 13 points after five games after beating Dortmund 2-1 in the same match. With more points and a direct head-to-head advantage over Real Madrid, Tottenham have already taken the lead with one game to spare.
