Pouring 'knife rain' on ex-wife's back because of failed love
After his ex-wife refused to resume their relationship many times, Thang took a knife and killed her in front of the house.
On August 10, the High People's Court in Hanoi opened an appeal hearing to consider the appeal for a reduced sentence of Ha Quang Thang (29 years old, in Phuc Tho district) for murder.
According to the first instance verdict, in 2008, Thang was discharged from the army and married a 15-year-old girl, To Thi Dau. After having two children, the couple had irreconcilable conflicts. Ms. Dau applied to work as a factory worker, but Thang was jealous, always scolding and beating her.
In 2016, the young wife filed for divorce and was approved by the Phuc Tho District Court. Despite the breakup, Thang still frequently contacted her to try to win her back, but to no avail. At noon on August 21, 2016, his feelings continued to be rejected, so Thang took a kitchen knife and stabbed Ms. Dau in the chest. When she reached the gate, the victim collapsed, continued to receive a "rain" of knives in her back, and died shortly thereafter.
The first instance court held that the defendant's actions required permanent removal from social life, but considering that his two young children had lost their mother, Thang was sentenced to life in prison.
At today's appeal hearing, the panel of judges said that the first instance verdict was reasonable, so Thang's appeal was not accepted./.
