Manhunt for man who shot dead ex-lover on New Year's Day

Huong Hoa District Police said that as of 11 p.m. on the second day of Tet, the professional teams were still coordinating with the Criminal Police Department, Quang Tri Provincial Police to investigate the cause of the shooting that left 3 people injured and dead.

Initial information said that at around 8:25 pm on the second day of Tet, the district police received a report from the public about a murder case.

At that time, Nguyen Ngoc Le (born in 1974, residing in Tan Hao village, Tan Lien commune) suspected of having a love conflict with Vo Thi Hanh (born in 1977, residing in the same village), so he used a gun to shoot repeatedly at Hanh and her two children.

Police are searching for Le.

The continuous firing of bullets caused Ms. Hanh to be hit by bullets and die on the way to the emergency room. The victim's two children were seriously injured.

After committing the crime, suspect Le was identified as carrying a gun and fleeing the scene.

Speaking to reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Sy Nhung - Head of Huong Hoa District Police said that in the initial investigation, the police determined that Le and the victim had a romantic relationship.

“The subject Le and Ms. Hanh used to have feelings for each other, but a conflict arose between the two when Le was imprisoned for the crime of involuntary manslaughter and had just been released from prison.

The district police are still coordinating with the Quang Tri Provincial Police to capture the suspect," said the Head of Huong Hoa District Police.
