Posthumously awarding the First Class Fatherland Protection Medal to the former Director of Nghe An Police
(Baonghean.vn) - Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, has just awarded the First Class Fatherland Protection Medal to the family representative of the late Major General Le Van Khieu, former Director of Nghe An Provincial Police.
Previously, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed Decision No. 2528/QD-CTN on posthumously awarding the First Class Fatherland Protection Medal to the late Major General Le Van Khieu, former Director of Nghe An Provincial Police, for his outstanding achievements in training, serving, fighting, building the People's Public Security force, maintaining political security, social order and safety, contributing to the cause of building socialism and protecting the Fatherland.

Major General Le Van Khieu was born into a poor farming family in Quynh Son commune (now divided into three communes: Quynh Hau, Quynh Thach, Quynh Hoa), Quynh Luu district.
He joined the revolution very early. In 1949, when he was just over 20 years old, Le Van Khieu was elected Deputy Secretary and then Secretary of the Quynh Son Commune Party Cell. In 1953, he was transferred to the Party Inspection Committee of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee and was then selected to join the Public Security force.
In early 1954, he was one of the few people from Nghe An Police sent to attend the Professional and Political class organized by the Ministry of Public Security at the Central Police School (now the People's Security Academy).

After joining the delegation of cadres taking over the capital and taking on the task of a prison officer at Hoa Lo Prison, in 1955, he was transferred back to Nghe An to work as a warden of the temporary detention camp and later became the highest commander of the police force in his Soviet homeland; the first general of Nghe An Police.
As the head of Nghe Tinh Police, later separated from the province and became Director of Nghe An Police, he always completed his tasks excellently and made great contributions to his homeland and country during the most difficult and complicated economic and political periods.
He was known as an excellent, exemplary commander and a benevolent general. He was also the founder of the Nghe Tinh Security Newspaper (now Nghe An Police Newspaper) and was the first Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper.
