On January 15th, the Binh Chanh District Police in Ho Chi Minh City were taking statements from witnesses and investigating the relationship between the victim and those around her to clarify the arson case involving the burning of a rented room.

The incident occurred in the early morning of January 13th, at room A6/13, Hamlet 1A, Vinh Loc B Commune, Binh Chanh District.

According to initial information, at around 1 AM on January 13th, Nguyen Van Sang's family (29 years old, residing in District 11), consisting of four people, were sleeping when they heard noises coming from outside their rented room door, so they sat up to check.

Sang noticed a young man loitering around the area of ​​his rented room, then suddenly he pulled out a lit object and threw it into Sang's room.

Flames erupted and engulfed the front door of the rented room. Sang shouted and told his wife and children to run outside. While everyone was in a panic, the young man who threw the gasoline bottle fled the scene.

Residents of the boarding house area helped put out the fire. During the fire, Mr. Sang, his wife Nguyen Thi Kim Lan (32 years old), Nguyen Thi Kim Nhi (11 years old), and Nguyen Thi Kim Thu (3 years old), Mr. Sang's two children, suffered burns and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Binh Chanh District Police conducted a scene investigation, seizing a plastic bottle containing gasoline and other related evidence, and are conducting an investigation to clarify the matter.
