The incident happened in the early morning of January 13, at rented room number A6/13, Hamlet 1A, Vinh Loc B Commune, Binh Chanh.
According to initial information, at around 1:00 a.m. on January 13, the family of Nguyen Van Sang (29 years old, living in District 11) of 4 people were sleeping when they heard a noise from outside the door of their rented room, so they sat up to check.
Mr. Sang discovered a young man loitering around the rented room area, then suddenly took out a flammable object and threw it into Mr. Sang's room.
The fire broke out and engulfed the front door of the rented room. Mr. Sang shouted and told his wife and children to run outside. While everyone was in chaos, the young man who threw the gasoline bottle ran away from the scene.
People living in the rented room area put out the fire. In the fire, Mr. Sang, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Lan (32 years old, Mr. Sang's wife), Nguyen Thi Kim Nhi (11 years old, Nguyen Thi Kim Thu (3 years old, Mr. Sang's 2 children) were burned and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Binh Chanh District Police conducted an investigation at the scene, seized a plastic bottle containing gasoline and some related evidence, and are conducting a clarification investigation./.
