Prosecution of Nguyen Phuong Hang and 4 accomplices
On April 26, the People's Procuracy of Ho Chi Minh City issued an indictment to prosecute and request trial of defendant Nguyen Phuong Hang (born 1971, General Director of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company) and 4 accomplices.
The indictment prosecuted Nguyen Phuong Hang and four accomplices for "Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals" under Clause 2, Article 331 of the 2015 Penal Code.

The four accomplices include: Nguyen Thi Mai Nhi (assistant to Nguyen Phuong Hang), Le Thi Thu Ha (employee of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company), Huynh Cong Tan (Head of Communications Department of Dai Nam Joint Stock Company), and Mr. Dang Anh Quan (lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law).
According to the indictment, from around March 2021, through the accountssocial network,Defendant Nguyen Phuong Hang organized many livestreams to directly speak about personal secrets and content that affected the reputation and honor of 10 individuals. Including Mr. Vo Nguyen Hoai Linh (artist Hoai Linh), Ms. Nguyen Thi My Oanh (singer Vy Oanh), Ms. Dang Thi Han Ni (former journalist - lawyer, master of law Han Ni), Mr. Huynh Minh Hung (singer Dam Vinh Hung), Ms. Tran Thi Thuy Tien (singer Thuy Tien) and her husband Le Cong Vinh, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien (Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper), Ms. Dinh Thi Lan, Ms. Le Thi Giau, Ms. Truong Viet Ha.
To increase the prestige and credibility of her statements, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang invited Dang Anh Quan, a Doctor of Law, lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, to participate in her livestreams.
During these livestreams, Dang Anh Quan spoke, commented, and interacted with Nguyen Phuong Hang about content that seriously offended the honor, reputation, and dignity of many individuals.
The indictment stated that Dang Anh Quan's actions actively assisted Nguyen Phuong Hang in committing crimes repeatedly over a long period of time, causing outrage in public opinion, complicating the situation on cyberspace, and negatively affecting social order and safety.
The three defendants Nguyen Thi Mai Nhi, Le Thi Thu Ha and Huynh Cong Tan were determined to have performed the following tasks: Posting information on Facebook about the title, time, and link to the YouTube and TikTok channels that will broadcast livestreams; printing the content that defendant Nguyen Phuong Hang will speak about and giving it to defendant Nguyen Phuong Hang before the livestreams; preparing and using electronic devices and equipment to serve livestreams and broadcast livestreams on defendant Nguyen Phuong Hang's social media accounts.
