According to DW, Iran's state television reported: "When the helicopter was found, there was no sign that the passengers on board were alive."

The update came just minutes after rescuers said they had identified the crash site, where President Ebrahim Raisi's helicopter is believed to have crashed.

“President Raisi’s helicopter was completely burnt in the crash… unfortunately, all passengers are feared dead,” an Iranian official told Reuters.

Raisi and other officials were returning from Iran’s northwestern province of East Azerbaijan on the evening of May 19 when the plane crashed in the province. Details of the exact location of the crash have been disputed since May 19.

Iranian President Raisi reportedly attended the inauguration of a dam with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Sunday.
