Tale of Kieu proposed for Guinness world record

The Vietnam Record Organization has just announced five more Vietnamese records for The Tale of Kieu, and completed the Guinness World Record nomination for this masterpiece in the category of Literary work creating the most national records.

In the past 10 years, 26 Vietnamese records for and related to Truyen Kieu have been set. These include: Kim Van Kieu - the cai luong play with the most actors, Truyen Kieu - the poem with the most sequels, Truyen Kieu - the only poem read from the end to the beginning about Kieu's life in reverse chronological order...

Nguyen Du's Tale of Kieu, consisting of 3,254 six-eight verses, has captivated generations of audiences over the past 200 years. Vietnam's Tale of Kieu has crossed borders to reach readers in many countries around the world.

In 2015, the ceremony to honor World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Du will take place worldwide on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the great poet's birth.
