Austrian media: Russia surpasses the US in space
Russia is far ahead of the US in developing space technology, and the new generation of Russian spacecraft is proof of this, Der Standard writes.

The publication notes that space technology is linked to the future, but in this respect the United States is stuck in the past. At the end of their era, American spacecraft performed flights with outdated computer systems that were not powerful enough, while the Russian Soyuz spacecraft was created on the basis of technologies that can be continuously improved.
Another proof of Russia’s leadership in the space industry is the spacesuits that Russian cosmonauts use on the ISS. The American spacesuits were developed more than 40 years ago and are outdated in design, which often increases the risk to astronauts, the newspaper noted.
Der Standard cited an example of the poor quality of American spacesuits as an incident that happened five years ago to Italian astronaut Luca Parmitano. While working in space outside the ship, his American-made spacesuit developed a technical problem. The incident did not lead to a tragedy, but subsequent inspections showed that the American-made suit was in poor condition.
The publication notes that in this respect Russia is far ahead of the United States and uses modern spacesuits Orlan-ISS.
