German daily Bild said it had received a never-before-published 2014 report from former FIFA ethics investigator Michael Garcia. Bild revealed that in this report, Michael Garcia mentioned a $2 million payment to the 10-year-old daughter of a senior FIFA official.
Michael Garcia resigned in December 2014 in protest at FIFA after his investigation report was covered up by the agency’s officials. Garcia said there were “many falsehoods and inaccuracies” in the 42-page report released by FIFA that were not part of his investigation.
This is not the first time corruption allegations have been made about Qatar's 2022 World Cup bid. French prosecutors have also investigated the 2018 and 2022 World Cup bidding processes, and questioned former FIFA president Sepp Blatter in April.
Bild newspaper said it would publish full details of Garcia's 403-page report today (June 27).
