Titled “Vietnam is a responsible member of the United Nations”, the article highly appreciates the role, international position, and outstanding achievements of Vietnam over the past years, while emphasizing the effective and active working program of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
Specifically, at the High-level General Debate of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly with the theme "Together Confident and Resilient - Towards post-COVID-19 recovery, sustainable reconstruction, protecting the planet, promoting human rights and reforming the United Nations", President Nguyen Xuan Phuc emphasized that the pandemic has exposed more clearly than ever the limitations and shortcomings of global governance and showed that inequality still exists in the world. To defeat the pandemic, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc proposed practical solutions such as removing barriers in global vaccine distribution, prioritizing countries with low vaccination rates; comprehensively promoting economic and trade cooperation to restore the world economy after the pandemic; accelerating digital transformation; increasing labor productivity, competitiveness and economic sustainability, etc.
The article also highly appreciated Vietnam's determination and strong commitment to responding to climate change, low carbon emissions and sustainable green economic development, which were stated by President Nguyen Xuan Phuc in his speech at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) High-level Meeting on Climate Security. According to author Grigory Trofimchuk, these have been clearly demonstrated in Vietnam's responsible actions in recent years. One of them is the Vietnamese Government's proposal to plant 1 billion trees from now until 2025, thereby helping to absorb about 3% of toxic emissions.
Also in the article, author Grigory Trofimchuk affirmed that Vietnam has made breakthrough proposals at the UN Food Systems Summit. As a country with special nature and climate, allowing year-round farming, along with thousands of years of agricultural experience, Vietnam knows how to allocate labor in the new food era. In addition, Vietnam's agricultural sector has entered the digital age with the goal of building a team of highly qualified staff to master high technology. This is a necessary condition for Vietnam to develop sustainably in the face of all global economic and financial instability.
Regarding Vietnam's role in the international arena, the author believes that Vietnam has reached new heights, clearly demonstrated through its contributions as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 term when the world is facing many difficulties, as well as in ASEAN activities.
