Communicating about maternity policies for female workers.

(Baonghean.vn) -As part of the activities of "Workers' Month 2014," on the afternoon of May 17th, at Minh Anh Kim Lien Garment Company (Southeast Economic Zone), the Provincial Labor Union organized a program on "Communication on maternity policies and breastfeeding practices" and inaugurated a breast milk pumping and storage cabin for female workers with young children.

This is a practical and meaningful activity aimed at providing female workers with basic knowledge about the importance of early and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and proper breastfeeding methods; how to express milk, the right time to express milk, and how to store milk when mothers return to work; and answering questions from women raising young children such as: how long to store milk in the refrigerator, when to introduce solid foods to babies, etc. In addition, the program also communicates and answers questions from female workers about maternity policies and maternity benefits for female employees.

On this occasion, the Provincial Labor Union inaugurated a breast milk pumping and storage cabin for female workers with young children at the company. The breast milk pumping and storage cabin at Minh Anh Kim Lien Garment Company is the first pilot model in the province under the program to build breast milk pumping and storage cabins in enterprises employing a large number of female workers, initiated by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. With the installation of this cabin, female workers who are breastfeeding can pump and store milk in the refrigerator to take home for their children at the end of the day. This is a very practical action by the labor union, demonstrating its concern and care for the lives of workers in general and female workers in particular.
