Regulations on Standards for Principals of General Education Institutions are applied to principals of primary schools, middle schools, high schools, multi-level general schools, specialized schools, ethnic boarding schools, semi-boarding schools for ethnic minorities and related organizations and individuals.

According to regulations, the standards for high school principals include 5 standards with 18 criteria.
Those are the standards ofprofessional qualitieswith 3 criteria requirements such as good performanceprofessional ethicscooperation, having a positive influence on grassroots management staff, having innovative thinking in school leadership and management to develop qualities and capacities for all students...; having the capacity to develop personal expertise and skills such as innovation and creativity in applying forms, methods and choosing learning content, fostering and improving personal expertise and skills;
StandardSchool AdministrationThere are 7 criteria. Accordingly, the principal is required to know how to lead and manage school activities to meet the requirements of developing students' qualities and abilities, in accordance with the diverse learning styles, needs, interests and learning readiness of each student.
For example, knowing how to organize and build a school development plan, manage teaching and learning activities, educate students, manage school personnel by using people and arranging personnel effectively; manage organization and administration by arranging an effective apparatus; decentralize, authorize, apply information technology; manage school finances by mobilizing legal financial resources according to regulations to improve the overall quality of education of the school.
