This is the third time Mr. Medvedev has visited Vietnam.
The first time was in 2010 as President of the Russian Federation and the second time was in 2012 as Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, on the afternoon of November 12, 2014, in Nay Pyi Taw (Myanmar), during the 25th ASEAN Summit, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung held an official meeting with Russian Prime Minister Medvedev.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their pleasure at the strong development of the traditional friendly cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in all fields over the past period.
The two Prime Ministers had an in-depth exchange on measures to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in the fields of politics, economics, security and defense, education and training, energy, science, and technology.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung respectfully invited Prime Minister Medvedev to visit Vietnam soon so that the two sides could continue to exchange concrete views on measures to further deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership. Prime Minister Medvedev happily accepted the invitation.
