(Baonghean.vn) - While catching jellyfish for export, a fisherman in Hoang Mai town (Nghe An) caught a sea turtle weighing about 70 kg and was paid 300 million VND by a trader, but instead of selling it, he released it back into the sea.

At 10:00 a.m. on March 18, Mr. Duong Van Be (born in 1981, residing in Dong Hoi hamlet, Quynh Lap ward, Hoang Mai town) was fishing for jellyfish on a fishing boat in the Dong Hoi fishing port area when he discovered an animal caught in his net.

Immediately after discovering and pulling up the net, Mr. Be was extremely surprised and delighted because this was a Vich, also known by its scientific name as a very large sea turtle. Upon hearing the news, Mr. Be's wife, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, and hundreds of people from Hoang Mai Town flocked to Dong Hoi Fishing Port to witness the rare sea turtle with their own eyes. A trader offered 300 million VND to buy the turtle.

However, knowing that this is a rare turtle species that is prohibited by law from being hunted, processed, or raised, after more than 2 hours of "admiring", Mr. Be and his wife decided to release the turtle into the sea, to the admiration of hundreds of fishermen.
