By rejecting Nord Stream 2, the EU is turning into a 'colony' of the US.
Berlin's rejection of Nord Stream 2 would turn Germany and all of Europe into a "colony" of the United States. This is the assessment of expert Elena Panina, Director of the Institute for International Economic and Political Strategy.
The reaction to Russia's recognition of the DPR and LPR was predictable, and also a further clear manifestation of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy's immaturity as a politician, Panina noted.

"However, while Zelenskiy's actions are nothing new regarding his image and were predictable, the steps taken by European leaders have significantly altered our perception of them. Instead of the principled but reasonable counterarguments we used to hear, today we see these politicians completely destroying Europe's economic sovereignty, turning the continent into a colony of the United States," the expert commented. Chancellor Scholz's decision to freeze certification for Nord Stream 2 will lead to this scenario, expert Panina asserted.
"In the context of skyrocketing gas prices, this move is like a blow to the pockets of German citizens. Because according to economists' calculations, even a 20% increase in gas exports would double the price of 'green fuel' in Germany. Now, Germany and the whole of Europe are becoming a colonial market for American liquefied natural gas (LNG)," she emphasized.
"Sanctions against Russia are actually a cover for the US beginning to plunder the European economy, starting with Germany. The scenario that experts have been discussing for a long time, as we are seeing now, has created new opportunities for the American economy, essentially 'breathing life' into the economy, which is in dire straits due to difficulties and unusually high inflation for Americans. Meanwhile, the people of Europe will be turned into a new kind of slaves, forced to serve American hegemony," expert Panina concluded.
The situation in Donbass has escalated sharply in recent days, with both the DPR and LPR reporting numerous shelling attacks by Ukrainian forces. The DPR and LPR leadership announced the temporary evacuation of citizens to the Rostov region of Russia due to the risk of Ukrainian forces infiltrating these areas. Women, children, and the elderly are the primary targets of the evacuation. According to DPR leader Denis Pushilin, Ukrainian President Zelenskiy will soon order an offensive in Donbass to carry out his plan to invade the DPR and LPR.
