Previously, on October 16th, during a meeting with several journalists, Tre Publishing House announced that the dictionary could not be found in the archives of Tre Publishing House, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution (Ministry of Information and Communications), and the Ho Chi Minh City General Science Library. Along with this, different cover versions of the dictionary appeared, with identical content from the cover designer to the person responsible for publishing, editing, and proofreading.

Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut, Director and Editor-in-Chief of Tre Publishing House, stated: "As of this time (October 16th), Tre Publishing House confirms that it has not produced or collaborated with anyone to print the aforementioned dictionary. However, with such inaccurate content, regardless of which unit printed it, it must be recalled and destroyed."

However, on October 22nd, Tre Publishing House accessed the copy of the "Vietnamese Dictionary for Students" that had been deposited at the National Library (Hanoi), which bore the signature of Tre Publishing House. After comparison, verification, and consultation with the National Library, Tre Publishing House confirmed that the signature was indeed that of a former Tre Publishing House employee.

This is a signed copy submitted for legal deposit by a former employee of Tre Publishing House.

Although he has only been the Director and Editor-in-Chief of Tre Publishing House for about 5 years, Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut has frankly acknowledged the mistake made 13 years ago regarding a book bearing his unit's logo.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut stated: “The error due to incomplete information has somewhat affected the brand of Tre Publishing House. As the current Director and Editor-in-Chief of Tre Publishing House, I take responsibility for the poor handling of this issue and apologize to readers, my predecessors, staff, the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, relevant authorities, and the press for our initial incomplete information. We have completed the report with the final conclusion and sent it to the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union (our governing body), and are awaiting a decision from higher authorities.”

The solution proposed by NXB Trẻ (Youth Publishing House):Readers may bring the "Vietnamese Dictionary for Students" published in 2001 or send it by mail to Tre Publishing House (161B Ly Chinh Thang Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City) for recall and destruction as directed by the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution; in return, Tre Publishing House will reimburse postage costs and offer a free copy of any book from Tre Publishing House of the reader's choice. If the reader does not wish to receive the book, Tre Publishing House will reimburse the purchase price, adjusted for inflation over 13 years.
