Pride of Nghe An: Student Nguyen The Quan won the only Gold Medal for Vietnam at the International Physics Olympiad
The only Gold medal winner of the International Physics Olympiad for the Vietnamese delegation was Nguyen The Quan, a 12A3 student at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. This is Quan's second Gold medal this school year.
This morning, July 24, Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan - Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training said that student Nguyen The Quan -Phan Boi Chau High School for the Giftedwon the Gold Medal at the 2025 International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) held in the French Republic.

This is the only Gold medal of the Vietnamese delegation in this year's competition. Previously, in this school year, Nguyen The Quan won the first prize in the national Physics competition and the Gold Medal at the Asia-Pacific Physics Olympiad. While in grade 11, Nguyen The Quan won the Bronze Medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad. In this year's competition, The Quan ranked second in the world in the experimental competition.
The remaining 4 students of the Vietnamese delegation all won Silver Medals.
They are Ly Ba Khoi, a 12th grader at the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Truong Duc Dung, a 12th grader at the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Nguyen Cong Vinh, a 12th grader at Bac Ninh High School for Gifted Students, Bac Ninh province; and Tran Le Thien Nhan, a 12th grader at Quoc Hoc Hue High School for Gifted Students, Hue city.

With 1 Gold Medal and 4 Silver Medals, the Vietnamese delegation is in the top 10 countries with the highest results at IPhO 2025.
The 55th International Physics Olympiad will be held in the French Republic from July 17, 2025 to July 25, 2025, with the participation of 94 delegations (including 5 observer delegations) from 94 countries and territories, with 406 contestants.
The IPhO 2025 exam consists of two official exam days: one day of theory exam and one day of practical exam, each exam has a duration of 5 hours.
At the end of the 2024-2025 school year, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted had 7 students winning medals at regional and international Olympic competitions, including 4 gold medals and 3 silver medals.
