Death sentence for the man who murdered his lover's husband and then buried the body to conceal the crime.
The appeals court has just upheld the death sentence for the perpetrator who "killed his lover's husband and buried the body to conceal the crime."
On the morning of January 25th, in Da Lat city (Lam Dong province), the Ho Chi Minh City High People's Court opened an appeal trial for Nguyen Thanh Duc and Tran Thi Tuyet Huong in the case of "murdering the husband of his lover and burying the body to conceal the crime," which caused a public outcry.

According to the indictment, around April 2016, Nguyen Thanh Duc became acquainted with the couple Vu Di Hanh and Tran Thi Tuyet Huong. After spending some time together, Duc and Huong developed a romantic relationship.
After many ups and downs in this immoral relationship, in September 2016, Duc was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Agency of Di Linh District Police (Lam Dong province) for theft, thus interrupting the relationship between Duc and Huong.
After being released on bail due to the replacement of preventive measures, from December 14 to 16, 2016, Duc had the opportunity to eat and sleep in the same place as Mr. Hanh's family (in Tien Yen village, Loc Duc commune, Bao Lam district) and conceived the idea of killing Mr. Hanh to free his lover.
To carry out this plan, Duc used a Thai knife to kill Hanh while the victim was sleeping, wrapped the body in a blanket, and carried it to the coffee garden in front of his house to bury it.
Fearing discovery, on the night of December 16, 2016, Duc dug up the victim's body, moved it to the coffee plantation of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai (in Loc An commune, Bao Lam district), and buried it in a hole.
On February 15, 2017, Duc and Huong were arrested by the police.
On February 21, 2017, the Investigation Police Department of Lam Dong province initiated a criminal case and indicted Nguyen Thanh Duc for murder and Tran Thi Tuyet Huong for concealing a crime.
At this appeal hearing, finding no new circumstances or mitigating factors in the case, and recognizing that the defendant Nguyen Thanh Duc was beyond rehabilitation and needed to be removed from society, the Panel of Judges of the Ho Chi Minh City High People's Court upheld the initial verdict of death.
