From Lang Son to Nghe An transporting heroin, two uncles and nephews go to jail
(Baonghean.vn) - Being addicted to drugs, the uncle hired his nephew and another person from Lang Son to go to Nghe An to get the "goods". When the nephew was arrested, the uncle was on the run but was arrested by the police.
On March 9, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial of three defendants, Mong Van Ly (born in 1988) and Mong Van Xep (born in 2000), both residing in Gia Mien commune, Van Lang district (Lang Son); and defendant Hua Van Do (born in 1985), residing in Thanh Hoa commune, Van Lang district, for the crime of "Illegal possession of narcotics". Among the defendants, Ly and Xep are uncle and nephew.
According to the indictment, due todrug addictSo on December 31, 2020, Ly called a man named Huong in Tuong Duong district (unknown background and address) to order 1 heroin cake for use at a price of 156 million VND.
Then, Ly called Do and his nephew Xep to hire them to go to Dua village, Luong Minh commune, Tuong Duong district to get the drugs, promising to pay 5 million for the work and to let the drugs be used. At this time, Ly gave Do 106 million, Xep 50 million for the "goods", and at the same time gave 4 million for travel expenses and Huong's phone number.

That same evening, Do and Xep took a bus to Nghe An. At around 10am on January 1, 2021, Huong picked them up and took them to a shack in the forest in Dua village to wait for the drugs. The next morning, Xep gave Huong 156 million VND and then received the drugs in return.
At noon of the same day, when Do went to Thach Giam town, Tuong Duong district, he was arrested by the police with 348 grams of drugs. Based on Do's statement, the police arrested Mong Van Xep and seized 0.4 grams of drugs from him.
After learning that his accomplices were arrested, Ly fled the area and was wanted by the police for illegal possession of drugs. On January 20, 2022, Ly was arrested.
At the trial, the three defendants admitted to their crimes, claiming that they committed the crimes because they were addicted to drugs. In their final statements, the three defendants asked the court to consider reducing their sentences.
In this case, the defendant Mong Van Ly committed the crime with the role of initiator and enticer, so the panel sentenced him to 20 years in prison. The remaining two defendants committed the crime with the role of accomplices. After considering the role of each defendant, the court sentenced Mong Van Xep to 18 years in prison and Hua Van Do to 17 years in prison for the crime of illegal possession of narcotics./.
