Self-awareness, self-reflection, self-correction

(Baonghean.vn) - As a human being, everyone has strengths and weaknesses; when working, everyone has "strengths and weaknesses", limitations, shortcomings, what is right and what is wrong,... Usually, the good and the good are not only known by oneself but are also spoken of, praised and encouraged by others, so it is easy to recognize; the bad and the ugly are rarely mentioned for many reasons. Knowing the good and the beautiful to promote, knowing the limitations and the bad to correct is very necessary.

When we say "self-reflection, self-correction", we mean the willingness, self-awareness, courage, and receptiveness to the limitations, shortcomings, bad habits, etc. of the "ego", of oneself.

The essence of “self-reflection and self-correction” is to regularly self-criticize and self-adjust, like a daily habit of washing your face. Reflection and correction include reflection and correction of perception, action, lifestyle ethics, etc. to have full, correct, and equal perception, to have positive and effective actions, to bring legitimate benefits to the People and the Party, including yourself, to have healthy and civilized lifestyle ethics. Ho Chi Minh said: “Flaws are like a disease. Criticism is the medicine to cure the disease of shortcomings”.

Currently, a number of cadres and party members, including leaders and managers, do not fully understand the nature and importance of Party building and rectification work; they do not uphold the sense of responsibility, lack exemplary behavior, have faded ideals, have reduced will, fall into individualism, do not match words with actions, violate Party discipline, and violate the law. One of the measures to effectively implement the Resolution of the 4th Central Committee (13th tenure) on Party building and rectification and the political system is: Self-examination and self-correction.

This 4th Central Resolution has set forth the requirement of self-reflection. Every cadre, party member, especially the leader, must self-reflection in every job, every word and action, in his own thoughts to see his own limitations and shortcomings and correct them, especially those limitations and shortcomings in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle. Only by doing so can we solve the root cause, clarify the cause, "treat the right disease" and create new motivation.

President Ho Chi Minh often paid attention to self-reflection and self-correction.

Nearly a century ago - in 1927, in the book "The Revolutionary Path", when discussing the qualifications of a cadre, Uncle Ho mentioned three relationships: One must be right oneself/ Right towards others/ Right work.

In "must do it yourself", He stated very specifically, explained very concisely, but very carefully and clearly about: Diligence - Peaceful without selfishness - Resolutely correcting one's mistakes - Careful without being timid - Asking often - Patient - Researching and considering - For the public good and forgetting about the private good - Not being greedy for fame, not being arrogant - Saying must do - Maintaining a firm ideology - Sacrifice - Little desire for material things - Secret.

In "Towards people", He clearly stated: Towards each individual, one must be tolerant - Towards groups, one must be strict - To have the heart to guide others - To be direct but not bold - To consider people well.

In "Doing the right thing": Consider the situation carefully - Decisive - Courageous - Obey the group.

If you pay attention, you will see that Uncle Ho talked a lot, spoke specifically, in detail, and made high demands on “oneself”. When he said “for oneself”, he was referring to subjective factors, internal factors, and decisive factors; and “for others”, he was referring to objective factors, external factors. Marxist philosophy clearly shows that subjective factors, internal factors, are always the factors that play a decisive role.

Nearly a century later, Uncle Ho's teachings still hold true to current events.

Strictly and regularly implementing "self-examination and self-correction" will have great and practical value in theory and practice.

Our Party has many resolutions, directives, and regulations serving the work of Party building and rectification to improve the Party's leadership, governance, and fighting capacity, and improve the quality of cadres and Party members.

Organizing the thematic activity of “self-reflection and self-correction” is a broad political activity aimed at “Identifying and combating, preventing signs of degradation in political ideology, morality, lifestyle, signs of “self-evolution” and “self-transformation” within the Party” and is considered a key solution to building a clean and strong Party. Thus, building the Party and the political system must start from people and from each person - this is considered the main task and solution. A collective where everyone is conscious of “self-reflection and self-correction” will certainly be better and stronger.

In innovation, clearly realizing the great and profound meaning of self-reflection and self-correction, the Party is: "The strength of the Party, of each Party Committee and Party member is not only in its advantages but also in clearly recognizing and correcting existing problems, mistakes, shortcomings and overcoming oneself."

Our Party is the ruling Party. The leaders and managers from the Central to the grassroots are all Party members. If this team is clean and strong, the Party will be clean and strong. The higher the level of the cadre, the more power he has. Regardless of big or small, having power but not maintaining revolutionary ethics can easily become corrupt, turning into termites of the people. The most dangerous thing is that corrupt Party members will lead the masses to corruption. Therefore, cadres and Party members must be self-conscious, regularly, daily, and lifelong introspection and self-correction like washing their faces every day to maintain revolutionary ethics, the highest level is to practice diligence, thrift, integrity, and uprightness for the people to learn and follow.

Uncle Ho taught us: "Whatever is beneficial to the people, we must do our best to do, whatever is harmful to the people, we must avoid at all costs". That motto must be constantly grasped, imbued, persistently implemented, becoming a habit, a tradition, a movement, just as Uncle Ho once said: "Each good person, each good deed is a beautiful flower, our whole nation is a beautiful flower forest". From bottom to top, everyone practices like that, cadres and party members do first, then the "village" will "follow". Avoid the situation of "beating the drum and abandoning the stick", "saying one thing and doing another" or just shouting, while doing is the job of lower-level cadres and party members, not of oneself.

Self-reflection and self-correction are your own business, it is fighting with your own ego. Correct reflection will make you brighter, correct correction will make you more beautiful. If each individual is better, the whole group will be better.
