From 2016, prices for public service press releases will be adjusted.
On December 2, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Information and Communications held a conference "Discussion on contents related to public service prices in press distribution activities."
This is a forum for departments, ministries, branches, and press publishing units to discuss the adjustment of public service prices and the publication of public press.
At the conference, the authorities also supplemented and completed the draft, moving towards issuing a Circular regulating maximum rates for public services in press distribution activities.

The majority of delegates agreed with the adjustment of public service prices and the publication of public newspapers; and agreed with the roadmap for adjusting services from 2016.
Delegates said that this would create better conditions for newspaper distribution and improve the quality of public services. However, many delegates also suggested that the price adjustment should be appropriate to the conditions of each locality, take into account the interests of press agencies and have the participation of all relevant agencies.
Vietnam Post Corporation actively creates additional revenue sources to support issuance activities and improve service quality.
Over the years, Vietnam Post Corporation has provided public service newspaper distribution services. Public service newspaper distribution fees are applied according to a decision issued by the General Department of Posts and Telecommunications nearly 50 years ago; to date, they have not accurately reflected the costs of providing public service newspaper distribution services.
To ensure quality and to offset the cost of service provision, the Prime Minister recently issued a Decision on the provision of public postal services and public services in newspaper distribution. It clearly stipulates the list and methods of service provision, and the responsibilities of relevant agencies in the management of the provision of public postal services and public services in newspaper distribution.
To implement this Decision, the Ministry of Information and Communications has developed a Circular regulating the maximum price for public services in press distribution activities. Accordingly, the proposed maximum price in the period of 2016-2017 for Nhan Dan, Quan Doi Nhan Dan and newspapers of Party committees of provinces and centrally-run cities is 50%; Communist Magazine is 67% of the service cost.
