Specifically, due to the construction of the coastal road in the area, many sections of the dike had developed cracks and the surface had peeled off. Therefore, as per the commitment, from the end of November, the units cleaned and sanitized the entire surface and base of the dike to check its condition. From December 1st, 2024, the units began constructing a new concrete dike surface according to the approved design. Accordingly, the entire dike surface was repaved with an additional 20 cm of smooth concrete.

In addition, to facilitate convenient and safe travel for people and vehicles, the intersections between the dike and local roads have been widened and gradually lowered, connecting the raised dike surface with the existing local road system.

Representatives from the Investment Management Board for Transportation Projects, Department of Transportation, stated that the total cost for repairing and restoring infrastructure affected by the coastal road construction is over 50 billion VND, implemented through a bidding process. In addition to the main items of repairing, raising, and resurfacing nearly 3 km of the sea dike from the intersection between the sea dike and the coastal road in Hung Phong hamlet, Dien Hung commune (Dien Chau district) to the foot of Son Tho bridge, Quynh Tho commune (Quynh Luu district), contractors are also surveying and rebuilding damaged culverts and some other local roads.

The nearly 3km-long dike repair project is being carried out in a phased manner. The construction is expected to take over a month and aims to complete and hand over the dike to the localities before the 2025 New Year, and other items before the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake. During the construction period, traffic is prohibited on the dike, and traffic diversions will be implemented accordingly.
