On the morning of May 7, Ms. Diep Thi Huong, 58 years old, residing in Thoi Thanh hamlet, My Thanh ward, Long Xuyen city, An Giang, went to the ward police station to report the incident: On the night of May 6, she was controlled by 3 masked young men, who tied her hands with rope and stuffed paper in her mouth, then robbed her of a 24-karat gold bracelet weighing 3 taels and a pair of earrings.

Using professional measures, combined with evidence at the scene, in a short time, the police determined that this was a case of staged crime.
Through investigation and questioning with Ms. Huong, at around 2:00 p.m. the same day, Ms. Huong confessed: Previously, on May 5, on her way to sell lottery tickets, a woman called her to buy a lottery ticket. After talking back and forth, the woman tricked her into taking a 24-karat gold bracelet weighing 3 taels and a pair of earrings. When she got home, she was afraid of being scolded by her husband and family. At around 9:00 p.m. on May 6, after her husband went to bed, she went to the front of the house and tied her hands behind her back with a rope and shouted that all the gold had been robbed.
The police force's timely investigation and clarification of the above incident has reassured public opinion and stabilized the local situation. Currently, Ms. Huong has been released on bail by the police to continue the investigation.
