Thu Duc District Police are expanding their investigation into a case in which a wife falsely reported a robbery to steal property from her husband's family, and discovered that the husband had sex with a child.

The police are detaining Nam (29 years old, residing in Thu Duc district) to investigate and handle the act of having sex with a child.

The investigation agency is also clarifying and administratively handling Tam (16 years old, residing in Can Tho City, temporarily residing in Thu Duc District) for the act of theft of property and at the same time clarifying the roles of those involved.

According to preliminary investigation, her parents divorced when she was young, Tam lived with her grandmother in the countryside. In early 2016, when she went to Ho Chi Minh City to help sell coffee at a cafe, this young woman accidentally met Nam and they fell in love.

When Tam was pregnant, in mid-2016, Nam brought the pregnant girl to his house in Tam Binh ward, Thu Duc district to live together as husband and wife. It is worth mentioning that at this time Tam used a fake name, falsely claiming to be 20 years old, without her husband and his family knowing.

According to Nam's statement, the day Tam came to her husband's house, she prepared a welcoming meal and only her grandmother and uncle from the countryside attended. Last February, Tam gave birth to a baby boy.

Tam, her husband and her uncle are being detained for investigation.

After getting married, Tam mainly stayed home to do housework to take care of her pregnancy and recently to take care of her young child. Nam and his family do business at Thu Duc wholesale market.

Tam reported that her biological mother had recently called. She “asked” her to send money to pay off her gambling debts. Tam recounted in detail that her biological mother had threatened that if she did not send the money, she would report her husband for having sex with a child and have the police intervene to handle the matter. With no other choice, Tam staged a robbery right at home…

At around 7pm on April 21, while she was alone at home, her husband's family went to the wholesale market to trade. At that time, she took a large amount of property in the house including: 2 tablets, 2 watches, 1 gold necklace, 1 gold ring, 6 million VND, 1 phone... wrapped in a nylon bag.

After that, Tam called her uncle who also lived in Thu Duc district to come and get the plastic bag containing the aforementioned assets, through the back door. At this time, she only told her uncle to keep it for her to prepare to send it back to her hometown.

Tam entered the house, and a moment later suddenly shouted “Robbery! Robbery!” to ask for help from the neighbors. People ran to help, then called her husband’s family to come home.

During the night, the husband went to the local police station to report the robbery. Immediately after receiving the report, the police investigated the scene and took statements from those involved. The key point was discovered when the police extracted the camera footage from the road behind the house, and clearly saw Tam handing over a suspicious nylon bag to his uncle. From this detail, the police fought and Tam admitted to the act.

More importantly, Tam revealed her real name and related details. In addition, the police determined that she had a relationship and had a child with her “husband” when she was under 16 years old. From there, the police proceeded to temporarily detain Tam’s husband.

The police are testing the child's DNA as a basis for handling Nam according to the law.
