Bilateral border patrol at Nghe An - Xieng Khouang (Laos) provincial level

(Baonghean.vn) - On May 15 and 16, the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province (Vietnam) coordinated with the Military Command of Xieng Khouang province (Laos) to organize a bilateral patrol of the border section from landmark 406 to landmark 409 of the Vietnam - Laos border.

Overcoming unfavorable weather conditions and complex steep mountainous terrain, the two sides conducted bilateral patrols, inspected national border markers and signs, and directly discussed and agreed on related issues in the field.

The two sides inspected the status of border markers, observed the direction of the border line, border signs, exchanged information about the border section, border rivers, and border markers; inspected the current status of the terrain, trails, openings, and shortcuts across the border section to coordinate management and protection in the coming time.

Specifically inspect border sections, border markers and border signs; inspect border sections for subjects taking advantage of illegal entry and exit activities, transporting drugs, explosives, firecrackers, and smuggling across the border.

The two sides also organized the clearing and visibility of the border and border marker areas; painted border markers; and ensured security and order on the border. At the same time, they exchanged relevant information on the border, security and order... in the spirit of friendship, cooperation, mutual development, in accordance with foreign policy principles...

Colonel Ho Quyet Thang - Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Nghe An Provincial Border Guard, said: This is the first time the Nghe An Border Guard Command and the Xieng Khouang Provincial Military Command have organized bilateral border patrols at the provincial level.

This patrol aims to closely coordinate between the two sides in border management and protection and maintaining political security and order on the border, contributing to strengthening the special cooperative and solidarity relationship between the two countries in general and between the Border Guard Command of Nghe An province and the Military Command of Xieng Khouang province in particular.

After organizing a bilateral patrol of the border section of the patrol formation, the two sides held a meeting to review experiences and signed a bilateral patrol record at the Nam Can International Border Gate Border Guard Station, Nghe An Provincial Border Guard. At the same time, they agreed on the time and bilateral border section for the next provincial patrol.
