Exciting rice planting competition in Con Cuong
(Baonghean.vn) - On January 26, at Lang Xieng field, the Women's Union of Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district organized the 2018 spring rice planting competition.
Participating in the contest were 5 teams including Khe Lo, Lang Cang, Thai Son 1, Thai Son 2 and the Commune People's Committee Union, each team consisted of 6 members, including 3 male contestants and 3 female contestants.take the test on an area of over 500m2with a duration of 40 minutes. Each team has 2 commune agricultural extension officers to supervise and guide the contestants on techniques. The requirements for the contestants are to transplant quickly, straight, and correctly, ensuring a density of 40-45 clumps/m2, from 1-2 shoots/clump.

The contest is a propaganda activity, mobilizing farmer members to boldly switch from sowing to transplanting, in order to increase rice productivity and reduce the use of pesticides. At the same time, it also propagates and mobilizes farmers to apply scientific and technical advances, bringing short-term rice varieties with high productivity and quality into production to replace long-term rice varieties. The rice transplanting contest is also a traditional cultural feature, aiming to create an enthusiastic atmosphere of emulation in production right from the beginning of the year for officials and farmer members.

At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to Khe Lo village; the second prize to Thai Son 1 village and the third prize to Lang Cang village, Thai Son 2 village and the Commune People's Committee Union.
