Stripped of title of People's Police, temporarily detained Mr. Phan Van Vinh for 4 months

On the afternoon of April 6, the Ministry of Public Security officially announced that Mr. Phan Van Vinh - former Director General of the General Department of Police - was prosecuted.

According to information from the Ministry of Public Security, the Phu Tho Provincial Police Department's security investigation agency has issued a decision to prosecute and arrest Mr. Phan Van Vinh for 4 months for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 281 - Penal Code 1999.
These indictments and temporary detention orders are the basis for the decision to prosecute the criminal case of "using the Internet to commit acts of property appropriation, organizing gambling, gambling, illegal trading of invoices and money laundering occurring in Phu Tho and a number of provinces and cities", related to the former Director of the High-Tech Police Department Nguyen Thanh Hoa and the defendants Nguyen Van Duong (then Chairman of the Board of Directors of High-Tech Security Development Investment Company Limited - CNC) and Phan Sao Nam (former Chairman of the Board of Directors of VTC Online).
Also today, April 6, President Tran Dai Quang signed a decision to strip Mr. Phan Van Vinh of his title of People's Public Security.
The Phu Tho Provincial Police Security Investigation Agency is expanding the investigation into the case, clarifying the responsibilities of related subjects, and strictly handling them according to the provisions of law.
