(Baonghean.vn) - At the candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs, Nghe An youth respectfully offered incense sticks, expressing deep gratitude to the noble sacrifices of heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation.

Today (July 26), all Youth Union branches in the province jointly held a candle lighting ceremony to commemorate the 76th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2023).

This activity aims to express the gratitude of Nghe An youth to the heroic martyrs, generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for national independence, so that today's youth can live in peace, prosperity and happiness.

For provincial activities, Nghe An Provincial Youth Union organized a candle lighting ceremony at Truong Bon National Historical Site (Do Luong district).

55 years ago, at the fierce time of the resistance war against America to save the country, the place name Truong Bon entered history, becoming a memorable milestone in the long and arduous struggle of our people in the 20th century.

Here, 1,240 outstanding sons of the nation fell, forever remaining on the sacred land with the legendary Highway 15A. Among them were 13 young volunteers of the Steel Squad of Company 317, Nghe An Youth Volunteers. They passed away at a very young age, one was in his 20s, the youngest was just over 17.

Although the war is long gone, those feats, sacrifices and hardships are forever engraved in the hearts of the people of the whole country and today's young generations.

Therefore, the young generation of Nghe An vows to join hands and hearts to continue the glorious tradition of the previous generation. At the same time, vows to be loyal to the ideals of the Communist Party of Vietnam, forever following the path chosen by the Party and Uncle Ho.
