Thought to be belly fat turned out to be giant ovarian tumor
A 61-year-old patient in Tuyen Quang had vaginal bleeding and lower abdominal pain for a month.
The patient had never been to a gynecologist before so she did not know she had a tumor. Her belly grew bigger and bigger like she was 8 months pregnant. She thought it was because she was fat. When the stomach pain persisted, she went to Hung Vuong General Hospital (Phu Tho) for a check-up.
The patient's abdominal MRI showed a large tumor measuring 24x14x22 cm. The tumor compressed and dilated the renal pelvis and right ureter. The doctor decided to perform surgery to remove the tumor.

The doctor said the tumor occupied almost the entire abdominal cavity, pressing on the internal organs. The large tumor could burst at any time, the mucus spilling into the abdominal cavity would cause peritonitis, abscesses, and infections that would affect the patient's life.
