Tuong Duong: Changes in resettlement projects
(Baonghean.vn) - Returning to Tuong Duong on a day at the end of October 2014, we witnessed the changes in the people of this area, which is considered one of the most disadvantaged localities in the country.
Despite infrastructure challenges, especially in remote communes like Nhon Mai, Yen Tinh, and Yen Na, thanks to the Party and State's attention to relocating residents in disaster-prone areas, particularly difficult areas, border regions, areas with spontaneous migration, and special-use forest areas during the 2013-2015 period and with a vision to 2020, Tuong Duong district has completed and handed over several resettlement projects. These include: the project to build infrastructure for a resettlement area to urgently relocate 63 households from the flood-prone area of Huoi To I village, Mai Son commune, with a total budget of 1,260 billion VND; and the project to build infrastructure for a resettlement area to urgently relocate 57 households from the flood-prone and landslide-prone area of Nhon Mai village, Nhon Mai commune, with an approved total budget of nearly 15,370 billion VND.
Currently, the district is implementing 3 projects, including: Construction of infrastructure for a resettlement area to urgently relocate 120 households from areas at risk of flash floods, landslides, and particularly difficult conditions in Yen Tinh commune; Investment in the construction of infrastructure for a resettlement area to urgently relocate 37 households in Xop Mat village and the commune's administrative center and schools from areas prone to natural disasters and dangerous landslides in Luong Minh commune; and Investment in the construction of infrastructure for a resettlement area to provide stable housing for residents in disaster-prone and particularly difficult areas in Yen Hoa commune.
Below are some images we captured showcasing the efforts of the investor and construction company, as well as the new life of the local people:
