Myanmar general considers China a "trusted neighbor"
According to THX, on May 19, Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Chang Wanquan met with Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar's armed forces, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
The two military leaders exchanged views on developing relations between the two countries and armies as well as maintaining stability in border areas.

According to Mr. Thuong Van Toan, China wants to actively promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries with Myanmar.
Mr. Thuong said that the armed forces of the two countries need to increase exchanges and cooperation, consolidate common strategic trust and maintain friendship between the two countries as well as contribute to peace and stability in the region.
For his part, General Hlaing stressed that Myanmar has always considered China a "friendly and trustworthy neighbor."
General Hlaing said that no matter how the international and regional situations as well as the domestic situations of Myanmar and China change, the Myanmar side will always be committed to enhancing exchanges and practical cooperation between the two militaries to ensure stability at the border as well as protect the common interests of the two countries.
Mr. Chang Wanquan will also attend the ASEAN-China Defense Ministers' Meeting in the capital Nay Pyi Taw.
