A Myanmar general considers China a "reliable neighbor."

According to THX, on May 19, Chinese State Councilor and Minister of National Defense Chang Wanquan met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, General Min Aung Hlaing.

The two military leaders exchanged views on developing relations between the two countries and their militaries, as well as maintaining stability in border areas.

According to Chang Wanquan, China wants to work with Myanmar to actively promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Mr. Thuong stated that the armed forces of the two countries need to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, consolidate shared strategic trust, and jointly maintain friendship between the two countries, as well as contribute to peace and stability in the region.

For his part, General Hlaing emphasized that Myanmar has always regarded China as a "trustworthy and friendly neighbor."

General Hlaing stated that regardless of changes in the international and regional situation, as well as the domestic situations in Myanmar and China, Myanmar remains committed to strengthening practical exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries to ensure stability on the border and protect the common interests of both countries.

General Chang Wanquan will also attend the ASEAN-China Defence Ministers' Meeting in Nay Pyi Taw.

On the morning of May 19th, he held talks with the Minister of Defence of Myanmar, Lieutenant General Wai Lwin.
