Buddha statue on Cam Mountain sets Asian record
After 7 years of setting a Vietnamese record, the Maitreya Buddha statue on Cam Mountain in An Giang was recognized as an Asian record.
The statue, over 33 meters high, is located in an area of over 2 hectares on the majestic Thien Cam Son mountain, in An Hao commune, Tinh Bien district (An Giang), and was completed at the end of 2005.

The pedestal area is 27x27 m, the total weight of the base and the statue is up to nearly 1,700 tons. The pedestal base is made of stone with high-quality blue reflective glass, meaning a diamond. No matter where visitors stand on Cam Mountain, they can see the bright white Maitreya Buddha statue, sitting majestically in the middle of the green space with a gentle smile.
In early 2006, the statue was recognized as a Vietnamese record. The ceremony to recognize the Maitreya Buddha statue on Cam Mountain as an Asian record will be held at 9am on May 29.
Cam Mountain is the most beautiful mountain among the 7 mountains of That Son range, about 90 km from Long Xuyen city center. In addition to the ideal natural environment, Cam Mountain is also famous for many beautiful landscapes.
