Sentenced 3 workers for stealing property from Nghe An Sugarcane Company Limited

On the morning of July 20, the People's Court of Quy Hop district opened a public trial for the defendants Vo Manh Dung (born 1993), residing in Nghia Xuan commune, Quy Hop, Truong The Duong (born 1984) and Truong Van Chien (born 1978), both residing in Nghia Hung commune, Nghia Dan district, for the crime of "theft of property" that occurred at NaSu Company.

According to the indictment, Duong was a mechanic and Dung was an excavator operator working for NaSu Company. Due to lack of money for personal expenses, Duong and Dung twice committed theft of property from NaSu Company in Nghia Xuan Commune (Quy Hop).

The first time, at about 11:30 p.m. on March 6, 2022, Dung met Duong to discuss and plan to steal the Company's property together, and Duong agreed. At about 2 a.m. on March 7, 2022, taking advantage of the time when no one was around, Dung and Duong went to the Company's scrap iron yard. Dung drove a wheel loader with Duong to load 500 kg of various types of iron, including cut steel wheels, V-shaped iron, screws, etc., and then transported them to the back of the Company's wastewater treatment area.

Then Duong called Truong Van Chien to help him transport the above assets and promised to give Chien some money to spend, so Chien agreed. Duong sold the above iron to Hoang Duc Hoan (born in 1977), residing in Nghia Hieu commune (Nghia Dan) for 5 million VND. Duong gave Chien 800 thousand VND, and spent the remaining money on personal expenses.

During the investigation and cross-examination, Hoang Duc Hoan affirmed that on March 7, 2022, he did not buy the above scrap iron from Truong The Duong.

The second time, at about 5:00 p.m. on March 7, 2022, Dung called Duong to inform him that there were 5 sets of steel rail axles at the NaSu Company's mechanical workshop that could be stolen for sale, and Duong agreed. At 9:00 p.m. the same day, when he saw that no one was watching, Dung used the Company's wheel loader to transport 5 sets of steel rail axles from the Company's mechanical workshop to the back near the Company's wastewater treatment pond, then Dung called Duong to pick them up.

At around 4am the next day, Duong called Chien to use a buffalo cart to go behind the company to bring it back to his house to hide. At 8am the same day, Duong called Hoang Duc Hoan to sell 5 sets of steel rail axles for more than 7.5 million VND, then Duong divided 4.4 million VND to Dung, and Duong used the remaining money for personal expenses.

Regarding Hoang Duc Hoan, after buying 5 sets of steel railway axles from Duong, Hoan resold them to Le Ngoc Anh (born 1994), residing in Thai Hoa town, for 9 million VND, knowing that this was a fake.proceeds of crimeLe Ngoc Anh has handed over to the Quy Hop District Police to assist in the investigation.

NaSu Company has received back 5 sets of steel rail axles, Duong and Dung voluntarily compensated the Company 4 million VND, now the Company does not request any further compensation from the defendants. Mr. Le Ngoc Anh has received 9 million VND in compensation from Dung and Duong, so he does not request any further compensation.

At the trial, the defendants Dung, Duong and Chien confessed to all their crimes. Based on the results of the debate at the trial, the Trial Panel sentenced the defendants Vo Manh Dung to 20 months, Truong The Duong to 18 months and Truong Van Chien to 15 months in prison for the crime of "theft of property" as prescribed in Clause 1, Article 173 of the Penal Code.
