Death sentence for transporting more than 300kg of crystal meth
For illegally transporting more than 300 kg of crystal meth, Laotian defendant Xeng Vang was sentenced to death by the People's Court of Quang Binh province.
On August 28, the People's Court of Quang Binh province opened the first instance trial of defendant Xeng Vang (born in 1995), residing in Phon Xa At village, Kham Cot district, Bo Ly Kham Xay province (Laos) for the crime of "Illegal transportation of drugs".
According to the indictment, on October 9, 2018, Xeng Vang and another subject, Hang A Chinh (born in 1996, residing in Dak Nong province) traveled from Laos to Vietnam, then both used a car from Dak Nong to Da Nang.

Then, on the morning of October 11, 2018, both went to Ha Tinh. After arriving in Ha Tinh, Xeng Vang was hired by Chinh to transport methamphetamine to Da Nang for a fee of 10,000 USD and promised to buy a plane ticket for the defendant to return to Laos after arriving.
After reaching an agreement, in the early morning of October 12, 2018, Xeng Vang used a pickup truck with license plate 86C - 091.02 to transport Hang A Chinh and a large amount of drugs towards Da Nang on National Highway 1A.
At 1:00 p.m. the same day, when the two subjects arrived at Le Thuy district, they were stopped by the Traffic Police of Quang Binh Province for speeding.

At the trial, Xeng Vang confessed and admitted his actions. The defendant explained that he accepted Hang A Chinh's offer because he was short of money and thinking about his wife and children.
According to Xeng Vang, after the agreement was completed, Hang A Chinh said the drugs were in the trunk of the car and he himself did not know the quantity or type of drugs he was transporting. It is known that Xeng Vang has a wife and 2 young children, and his family is a farmer.
At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Xeng Vang to death.
