SMW3 submarine cable has been restored.

The SMW3 system has successfully been restored, all information from Vietnam to international via SMW3 has been restored.

Regarding the incident on the SMW3 submarine cable, VNA quoted the latest information from a VNPT representative as saying that at 3:00 p.m. on December 15, the SMW3 system completed replacing the power source at the TUAS station (Singapore), then successfully restored the power source, and all information from Vietnam to international destinations via SMW3 was restored.

Previously, at 5:10 a.m. on October 10, an incident occurred on the SMW3 international submarine cable. VNPT has organized traffic priority routing and deployed traffic rescue plans on other cable routes such as the APG, AAE-1 international submarine cable routes and the CSC international land cable route to ensure maximum quality of Internet services for the APEC 2017 Conference and customers during the incident.

The SEA-ME-WE 3 (SMW3) cable line, also known as the Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 3 optical cable line, is the only optical cable line connecting Asia to India and Europe. The remaining lines all go to the Americas via Guam and Hawaii.

Put into use in September 1999, SMW3 is a submarine optical cable using optical wavelength multiplexing technology with a system capacity of 320G bps connecting Vietnam with 39 countries around the world. In Vietnam, this submarine optical cable lands in Da Nang./.
