"Recruited" a husband, given a house and a car

A woman in Kano (Nigeria) recently posted a notice on the radio looking for a husband with the promise of an expensive dowry.

Journalist Zango at Radio Liberty said that on June 16, Ms. Zainab Abdulmalik (22 years old) came to the station to post an advertisement for a husband, with the promise of giving a house and a car to the chosen one.

Hundreds of men showed up the next day to apply. So many people showed up that the station staff had to call the police to protect Abdulmalik.

The girl finally made her decision, but Abdulmalik did not give details about the person she chose as her husband.

Abdulmalik told Daily Trust that the reason she posted the ad was because she had spent 5 million Naira (about 25,000 USD) on her previous boyfriend, but he had dumped her.

According to the BBC, this is the first time a woman has posted a notice looking for a husband on a radio station in Nigeria.
