Vietnam team faces Russia and Thailand at My Dinh Stadium
As part of the preparation plan for the AFF Cup 2024, the Vietnamese team will face Russia and Thailand at My Dinh Stadium during FIFA Days in September 2024.
On the afternoon of August 19, the Vietnam Football Federation held a signing ceremony for the sponsorship agreement and launched the LPBank Cup 2024 International Friendly Tournament. This is an important tournament for the Vietnamese team, part of the preparation plan for the 2024 Southeast Asian Championship (AFF Cup 2024).

According to VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi, the tournament will take place from September 5 to 10, with the participation of 3 teams: Russia, Thailand and host Vietnam. The 3 teams will compete in a round robin to calculate points, teams with the same points will compete head-to-head to select the First, Second and Third teams.
"The tournament promises to be a strong "test" for the Vietnamese team, and is also an opportunity for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team to test their strength and best prepare for the AFF Cup 2024," Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi emphasized.

Russia is currently ranked 33rd in the FIFA rankings, considered one of the strongest teams in Europe, with 11 appearances in the World Cup, reaching the semi-finals in 1966 and 2018. Recently, although not participating in official UEFA and FIFA tournaments, the Russian team has maintained high performance through friendly matches. Recently, the Russian team won with the same score of 4-0 against Serbia and Belarus.
It is known that the Russian national team's squad is expected to have impressive names such as striker Artem Dzyuba, who is playing for Lokomotiv Moscow, young midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, who is playing for AS Monaco, midfielder Arsen Zakharyan of Real Sociedad, or striker Fedor Smolov, who used to play for Krasnodar, Celta Vigo, and currently Dynamo Moscow.
The Russian team is currently led by coach Valeri Georgievich Karpin - a famous former midfielder who played for many famous teams in Russia (Fake Voronezh, Spartak Moscow) and Spain (Real Sociedad, Valencia CF and Celta Vigo).

Meanwhile, the Thai team is very familiar to Vietnamese fans and is considered a traditional rival of the Vietnamese team.
