The World Football Federation FIFA has just announced the rankings for July 2025. The Vietnamese team continues to decline, falling 4 places to 113th in the world, further and further away from the goal of returning to the top 100.

During the FIFA Days in June, the Vietnamese team played only one match in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, against Malaysia away. The heavy 0-4 defeat to a lower-ranked opponent caused coach Kim Sang-sik's team to lose 13.91 points, dropping four places in the FIFA rankings. Meanwhile, Malaysia was awarded 14.91 points, rising six places to 125th in the world.

Currently, the Vietnamese team only has 1169.92 points, 65.71 points behind the 100th ranked team, Guatemala. This gap makes the goal of returning to the world top 100 of the "Golden Star Warriors" increasingly difficult.

The last time Vietnam was in the top 100 was December 2023, when the team held 94th place and led the Southeast Asian region.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand is currently the highest-ranked team, although it also suffered a loss after a surprising defeat to Turkmenistan in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers. This result caused the "War Elephants" to lose 12.24 points, falling to 102nd place in the world.

Indonesia is emerging as a new power in the region. Despite losing 0-6 to Japan, the team still accumulated 11.63 points thanks to a 1-0 victory over China, thereby reducing the gap with Vietnam to 5 places.

At the top of the world, Argentina continues to lead the FIFA rankings, followed by Spain, France, England and Brazil. Portugal, with the Nations League championship, was awarded 20.45 points but only moved up one place, to 6th place.
