'Wonderful' is how North Korea talks about the Trump-Kim meeting

North Korea's state news agency called the event "wonderful," noting that the top leaders of the DPRK and the United States had a "historic handshake" 66 years after the signing of the Korean War Armistice Agreement in 1953.

It is understood that the leaders discussed "easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula, ending the embarrassing relationship between the two countries and creating a turning point. The two sides also discussed issues of mutual concern." At the same time, the two leaders expressed "thorough understanding and sympathy."

According to KCNA, the US President and the North Korean leader agreed to "continue to maintain close communication, resume and promote productive dialogue to achieve a new breakthrough in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and in bilateral relations."

Trump and Kim Jong-un met on Sunday, June 30. They shook hands across the military demarcation line that divides the Korean peninsula and held talks. The meeting took place at the Panmunjom Negotiation Station in the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea. Trump was accompanied by South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

Earlier, Trump said that he had agreed with Kim Jong-un to form special negotiating teams. As the US leader pointed out, “special teams will be set up to work out the details.” According to Trump, the teams will begin work within two to three weeks. The US team will be led by Special Envoy for North Korea Stephen Beagan. In addition, the working group will also include Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Trump added.
