U14 Song Lam Nghe An won third place at the Nanning - ASEAN Cities Youth Football Tournament 2025
Participating in an international tournament in China with a group of players only 14 years old, U14 Song Lam Nghe An played impressively. They brought home 3rd place overall, leaving a good impression in the hearts of international audiences and friends.
Matches that left their mark
The 2025 Nanning - ASEAN Youth Football Tournament brings together 4 strong teams from the continent. The teams will compete in a round robin format to calculate points for ranking. Participating in the tournament, U14 Song Lam Nghe An is the youngest team when most of the opponents are in the U16 group. However, the young players from Nghe An do not show any inferiority.
In the opening match against the host team Runhua Nanning (China), U14 SLNA played evenly and scored 2 goals by Van Tai and Trong Vu. Although they lost 2-3, the match still made the audience give many compliments for the confidence and fighting spirit of the players.
In the second match, the young Vietnamese team exploded with a big 4-0 win over Tuan Long (Malaysia). Van Tai continued to shine with 2 goals, Tuan Tu and Gia Huy also contributed to getting their names on the scoreboard.
In this match, Van Tai was voted the best player of the match.
In the final round, U14 SLNA met Chonburi (Thailand). Once again, Van Tai scored a double to help the home team draw 2-2. With this result, they ranked 3rd overall, only behind Thailand in goal difference.
A journey of many valuable experiences
Sharing after the tournament, Coach Le Van Hung said: “Participating in the tournament, the players had a very valuable experience. Not only competing to improve their skills, the players also had the opportunity to exchange and learn culture and professional spirit from international friends. I believe that these experiences will help the players become more mature and have the motivation to move towards the upcoming important seasons.”

With the third place achievement, U14 Song Lam Nghe An was awarded the Cup, souvenir flag, cash prize and also had the opportunity to visit and experience Nanning city (China). This is a worthy reward for the efforts and competitive spirit of the young players.
In addition to the competition, the organizers also created opportunities for the teams to participate in many exchange activities at schools and experience the culture of Nanning City. This not only helps young players connect with each other but also broadens their vision of life, people and culture of countries in the continent.
The participation of U14 Song Lam Nghe An in an international tournament like Nanning is not simply a participation in a football field, but also a preparation for the future. Today's experiences will be the luggage for them to be more confident when they return, continuing to compete in the youth tournament system organized by the Vietnam Football Federation.
