(Baonghean.vn) - As the host team of the 2019 Southeast Asian U18 tournament, U18 Vietnam is determined to win the championship. The journey of coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team begins with a confrontation with a tough opponent, U18 Malaysia.

In addition to the biggest goal of winning the championship, U18 Vietnam also has to make efforts to review its squad to prepare for the U19 Asian qualifiers taking place this coming November.

As for U18 Malaysia, last year they defeated Myanmar with a score of 4-3 to win the championship. Therefore, the confrontation between U18 Vietnam and U18 Malaysia has received great attention from fans.

Playing at home and receiving enthusiastic cheers from the audience at Thong Nhat Stadium, U18 Vietnam started the game quickly and appeared to overwhelm the visiting team Malaysia. However, the home team's strikers were somewhat hasty and inaccurate.

The first notable situation of the match was the shot of SLNA player Tran Manh Quynh. However, the Malaysian goalkeeper played with concentration and denied the Nghe An player's effort.

In the 35th minute, U18 Vietnam should have opened the scoring when Manh Quynh, with his quick movement, had a touch to get past the away team's goalkeeper. Unfortunately, the post denied his effort.

Entering the second half, U18 Vietnam continued to take the initiative. In the 47th minute, Xuan Binh had a long shot from outside the penalty area but the ball went wide of the post. Not long after that, striker Nguyen Hoang, with a basic move in the penalty area, fired a powerful shot towards the Malaysian goal but was blocked by goalkeeper Fadhil.

Tuy nhiên họ đã phải đối đầu với một đối thủ chơi kín kẽ và chấp nhận hòa 0-0
However, they had to face a tight opponent and accepted a 0-0 draw.
After being at a disadvantage for most of the time, U18 Malaysia started to rise in the second half. With a good physical foundation, U18 Malaysia still maintained a solid defense. U18 Vietnam took turns withdrawing stars like Manh Quynh and Xuan Tao to increase the suddenness.

After many attempts, U18 Vietnam finally scored a goal. In the 87th minute of the match, a Vietnamese player took a difficult corner kick that made the Malaysian defender fumble and let the ball fly into his own net.

A lucky but completely deserved victory for U18 Vietnam.
