Despite being considered the underdog and facing a psychological disadvantage in the race for a place in the semi-finals of the 2015 National U19 Championship, the home team, SLNA U19, took the initiative from the start. A surprise came in the 3rd minute. Following an attack down the right wing, striker Tran Tien Anh accurately tapped the ball in to open the scoring.
Trailing by a goal, the U19 PVF players quickly pushed forward, putting pressure on goalkeeper Van Cuong's goal. Their physical advantage, stature, and experience allowed the young players from the South to control the midfield. However, the solid defense of the Nghe An team frustrated the U19 PVF strikers. It wasn't until the final minutes of the match that U19 PVF managed to equalize. In the first few minutes of the second half, U19 PVF was still the slightly better player. However, that advantage did not last long as Coach Nguyen Quang Hai's players gradually got back into the rhythm of the game and organized many well-structured attacks. Numerous opportunities were created in front of U19 PVF's goal, but Xuan Manh (7), Huu Tuan (18) and Van Ngoc (17) were all unable to finish successfully.
