Vietnam U19 wins first victory at 2022 Southeast Asian U19 Championship

Participating in the 2022 Southeast Asian U19 Championship, Vietnam is in Group A with Indonesia, Myanmar, Thailand, Brunei and the Philippines. In the opening match, U19 Vietnam was under great pressure from 30,000 fans of the host team Indonesia. And it was very difficult for coach Dinh The Nam's team to gain 1 point against the team from the archipelago country.

The biggest concern for the red team is their physical condition. Many U19 Vietnam players suffered from cramps in the match against the home team. In this match against the Philippines, coach Dinh The Nam’s players will only have 2 days to recover. This is a big obstacle on the path to conquering the gold cup for the red team.

Participating in the 2022 Southeast Asian U19 Championship, SLNA only contributed 2 players, goalkeeper Cao Van Binh and center back Trinh Hoang Canh. Both of the above players were selected by coach Dinh The Nam to play in the starting lineup.

When the match had only been less than 4 minutes, coach Dinh The Nam's students opened the score. The goal was scored by Quoc Viet. This player had a skillful dribble, before calmly handling the ball to defeat the opponent's goalkeeper.

The more Vietnam U19 plays, the more they show their superiority over their opponents. The red shirt players' coordination is quite diverse and coherent. The trio Quoc Viet, Van Khang and Van Truong always create connections to make it difficult for the Philippines defense.

After many missed chances in the 48th minute, U19 Vietnam doubled the gap. Quoc Viet was the player who scored again, after an accurate cross from Dinh Bac.

Leading 2-0, the red team was a bit subjective and immediately had to pay the price. In the 54th minute of the match, the Philippines shortened the score to 1-2.

The goal woke up coach Dinh The Nam's players. They regained control of the game and set up sharp attacks, aiming to create a safe distance from their opponents. And less than 6 minutes later, U19 Vietnam increased the gap. The goal was scored by Van Khang. The Vietnamese captain won the penalty and successfully converted it himself from the 11m mark.

At the end of the match, the red team scored another goal to secure a 4-1 victory. After this match, U19 Vietnam got 4 points.

On July 6 at 5:00 p.m., U19 Vietnam will face U19 Brunei.
