U19 Vietnam falls into an 'easy' group at the 2016 AFC U19 Championship

The top two teams in each group will advance to the quarter-finals. The four semi-finalists will qualify for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea.

To prepare for the continental tournament, the U19 Vietnam team with an expected force of 28 to 32 players will gather on May 21 in Hanoi. After 10 days of training, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan will select the best squad to go to Malaysia to participate in the 2016 Nations Cup as the U21 Vietnam team.

After the 2016 Nations Cup, U19 Vietnam will gather again in early August to prepare for the 2016 Southeast Asian U19 tournament, hosted by Vietnam from September 11 to 24, 2016. In this tournament, U19 Vietnam is in Group A with Malaysia, Timor Leste, Singapore and the Philippines. Group B includes: Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Australia and Cambodia.

According to the schedule at the AFC U19 Championship, Vietnam U19 will meet North Korea U19 (October 14); UAE (October 17); Iraq (October 20).
