U19 Vietnam won the Four Nations tournament in Myanmar

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team won 5-4 in the penalty shootout, after a 0-0 draw in 120 minutes of the final match with U18 Sapporo on the afternoon of August 28.

U18 Sapporo did not start the final well, continuously being pressured by U19 Vietnam. However, it was the Japanese team that had the clearest chances in the first half. In the 25th minute, goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung fouled a U18 Sapporo player in the penalty area, forcing the home team to concede a penalty. However, the U19 Vietnam goalkeeper later made amends by successfully blocking the opponent's kick.

In the second half, Tien Dung saved U19 Vietnam once again. That was in the 75th minute, he used his knee to successfully block Shinnosuke Fukuda's powerful shot right at the edge of the 5m50 box. After 90 minutes, U19 Vietnam and U18 Sapporo had to play two extra periods. However, after 30 minutes of competition, no goals were scored, and the championship had to be decided by a penalty shootout.

The five players assigned by coach Hoang Anh Tuan to take the penalty kicks all completed their task. Meanwhile, the Japanese team only had four players succeed, as Takano kicked the ball into the air in the third round.

Winning 5-4, U19 Vietnam crowned championat the KBZ Bank Cup 2016. This is a tournament for teams to prepare for the Southeast Asian U19 Championship taking place in Hanoi from September 11 to September 25. In addition, the tournament in Myanmar is also the first step in preparation for coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team to aim for the final round of the Asian U19 Championship in October in Bahrain.

U19 Vietnam participated in this tournament with not the strongest force. Some players who were considered to have quality such as Trong Dai, Van Hao, Quang Hai, Thanh Hau, Duy Khanh or Tien Linh could not participate because they were with their clubs in the decisive stage of the First Division and V-League 2016. However,In the group stage, U19 Vietnam won 1-0 against U19 Thailand, tied U19 Myanmar and U19 Sapporo with the same score of 1-1.
