U20 World Cup: Spain and France advance to the quarter-finals.

Rising star striker Jese scored in injury time, helping Spain come from behind to beat Mexico 2-1 and advance to the quarter-finals of the U20 World Cup where they will face Uruguay. Following Spain's lead was France, who beat Türkiye 4-1. Les Bleus' opponent will be Uzbekistan, who defeated Greece 3-1.

Jese's shot deflected off defender Abel Fuentes, leaving goalkeeper Richard Sanchez completely helpless. This was the young Real Madrid striker's fifth goal, further solidifying his lead at the top of the scoring charts.

Earlier, Mexico had dealt Spain a blow when Arturo Gonzalez scored in the 2nd minute. Spain calmly regained control of the game, but they struggled against Mexico's well-organized defense. However, that defense made a mistake in the 74th minute when defender Derik scored unmarked from a corner kick, rekindling hope for the Spanish before Jese scored the decisive goal.

Uruguay defeated Nigeria 2-1, with Nicolas Lopez scoring a brace. The African side were reduced to 10 men just before halftime after defender Abdullahi Shehu was sent off. Despite playing with a man advantage, Uruguay didn't take the lead until the 65th minute, only to concede an equalizer four minutes later to Olarenwaju Kayode. It was a penalty in the 84th minute that finally secured the victory against their tough opponent.

The remaining two matches were one-sided affairs. Paul Pogba returned after his suspension to help France beat Türkiye 4-1, setting up a semi-final clash against Asian side Uzbekistan.
